À corps perdu
Performance, 14 min., 2015
À corps perdu refers to a mode of forgotten immediacy of the self. In opposition to this, most occidental philosophy conceives its paradigmatic body of knowledge as distanced, controlled, and confident, though in reality never entirely within our control.
The four sequences of the real-time choreography follow philosopher Slavoj Žižek’s passionate, eccentric gesticulation. On a video prompter placed opposite to the dancer, visitors catch an occasional glimpse of Žižek’s original movements. Each sequence is introduced with an animation clip in which a pictorial gate opens as a brittle voice-over announces the sequence number.
