Ein neues Organ schaffen (Creating New Organs)
Radio essay, 35 min., 2021
For Joseph Beuys, the ideal democracy was a “permanent conference” of all with all. This radio essay explores his vision in the context of the participatory media projects of his time, asking whether social media would offer suitable platforms for this today. Using the microphone, Anna Bromley traces the lines of Beuys’s drawings. Four keywords come to the artist’s mind: democracy, feelings, transmitter, receiver. To reflect on this, she visits a feminist programmer, a podcast expert, and an actress whose father migrated to Germany during Beuys’s lifetime.
