Hangout
Multimedia setting: 15 Skype video conversations, 2014
Periodically, skype dialog partners are being screened into a hall of mirrors, to multiply ad infinitum. Soon deep in conversation, they discuss about digital co-working, about studying one`s part in a play and acting one`s part in everyday live, or about the virtual within narratives of urbanity and rurality.
About hourly, alternate interlucotors are being transmitted - their desks parted by miles and oceans. Some are ironing, others are about to have breakfast. Some are just opening their coffeehouse, while their skype partner came in from University campus, from the airport, from dog walking or child care.
All these casual conversations revolve around historic and contemporary concepts of the virtual and the real. What is it, what we perceive as "real", and why? Involving diverse generations, and geographical regions, fifteen conversations are being located „with-between“ the mirror`s and projection surfaces.
